A journey up Mauna Kea to photograph the milky way and the night sky along with a silhouette of an old tree was my goal. What I wasn't expecting was a super windy night and a little bit of the unexpected. Every time I would hit the shutter I had to guard my camera from the wind using my body and jacket over a 30 second exposure. Half the time I was successful with capturing a crisp shot, however I didn't take many pictures. For every 30 second exposure I had to wait another 30 seconds for buffering with more time to review the image and re-set up to get a composition I liked. A minute and a half to two minutes doesn't sound like a lot of time, but when it is cold it feels like forever.
Through a couple shots I was beginning to get the composition I wanted, but the images were all coming back blurry from the wind. All but this shot. The first 10 seconds was going great and then all of a sudden someone began driving up the pathway towards me, blasting me with light. I thought t...
