The Blanket Flower, Firewheel, or Indian Blanket Flower (Gaillardia pulchella), is a flower belonging to the Sunflower family. It's a radiant daisy-like bloom, standing like showy pinwheels.
They are a head-turner in my book, and hold a special place in my heArt, never missing a moment to photograph their vibrant beauty. Especially when they are growing wild and free, such as these while visiting Tubac, Arizona.
They have a blanket-like quilted look, from which it gets its common name. They remind people of brightly colored Native American blankets, and many began to call them Indian blanket flower. It also is said that they get their name for the way they can blanket the landscape. No matter their name, I have fallen for their ultimate beauty.

Thank you, Sharon, for stopping by my gallery to share your lovely comment. Here in Arizona, I have photographed most of my blanket flowers in the autumn season. Those being wild and free. I don't generally see them in the spring.
